The Larry C. Larson Safety Award recognizes a utility’s commitment to employee safety. TMWA has 166 employees. Very few utilities are honored because of the stringent criteria of the award.
TMWA employee Chet Malewski was honored by AWWA with the George A. Elliot Memorial Award. The award is the California-Nevada Section of AWWA’s highest honor. It was created in 1949 and named after the man who developed the section in 1920.
Malewski has been with TMWA since its creation in 2001 and has been working in the drinking water industry for the past 15 years. He currently serves as safety and security coordinator for TMWA. The distinction acknowledges Malewski’s commitment to protect public drinking water sources.
TMWA is a nonprofit water utility that treats and delivers drinking water to the more than 330,000 residents of the Truckee Meadows.
