Rail City Garden Center’s Green College will help locals put their pond and water features to bed at 11 a.m. on Saturday at 1720 Brierley Way.
Water guru Justin Meckley will provide tips and techniques for properly putting water features and ponds to bed for the winter.
Cost for the workshop is one can of food for the Food Bank of Northern Nevada. All attendees will receive a 20 percent discount on Koi and supplies purchased on the day of class.

On Oct. 23, homeowners will learn how to properly turn off their sprinkler system and protect pipes from breaking over the winter months during a free workshop presented by Washoe County Regional Parks and Open Space from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Wilbur D. May Arboretum.
This hands-on workshop is presented by the Assistant Arboretum Horticulturist Phil Brazier.
