SPARKS — Thanks to a grant from The Nell J. Redfield Foundation, fun day trips for adults are back through the Sparks Parks and Recreation Department.

First is the popular Apple Hill location near Placerville, Calif. from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Oct. 18. It's a great place to shop for apple-theme treats and crafts, and enjoy the bounty of apple orchards and pumpkin patches.

Next is a Victorian Christmas in Nevada City, Calif. from 3 to 11 p.m. on Dec. 8. Nevada City's historic district is transformed back in time with Christmas melodies and costumed characters.

Participants will be transported by charter buses. The cost is $40 per person per trip. Financial assistance is available for seniors age 50 and older.

To reserve a space, call 353-2376 or e-mail recinfo@cityofsparks.us.
