Two separate traffic stops, two arrested in Reno

RENO –– Monday at about 10 p.m., a Nevada Highway Patrol trooper observed a silver Ford sedan traveling near East Fourth and Sierra streets in Reno without any vehicle lights on.

The driver was stopped and identified by his Nevada driver’s license as 32-year-old Jonathon Sanchez-Acre of Reno. A records check revealed eight active warrants for his arrest. One warrant was for a domestic battery charge issued by the Sparks Municipal Court and another was a felony warrant charging two counts of burglary and two counts of using a forged instrument issued by the Reno Justice Court. The remaining warrants were for previous traffic-related offenses in Reno, Sparks and Tonopah. He was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Washoe County jail with a total bail amount of $24,072.

In a separate traffic stop around 10:35 p.m. on U.S. 395 in Pleasant Valley, a trooper stopped a tan Mercury sedan for traveling 73 mph in a posted 50 mph speed zone.

The driver was identified by his California driver’s license as 18-year-old Albert C. Bolden of San Jose, Calif. An odor of marijuana was detected during the traffic stop and Bolden was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs. Additionally, a stolen hand gun, 1.4 grams of marijuana and other drug paraphernalia were located in the vehicle. He was placed into custody without incident and booked into the Washoe County jail on charges of DUI drugs (first offense), speeding, possession of a controlled substance (marijuana less than 1 ounce), being under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of a stolen firearm and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bolden’s total bail is set at $5,067.
