SPARKS — On Tuesday, at 9:48 p.m., Sparks firefighters responded to a reported fire in a residential structure located on the 1400 block of Sbragia Way. The fire was reported by the homeowners who thought there was a fire in the attic. First companies on scene found smoke coming from the attic gable vents. The living area of the home was clear of smoke.
It was discovered that a number of joists in the attic were on fire, which had spread to the insulation. It took 30 minutes for crews to bring the fire under control. Although there was little damage to the living space of the home, the family was displaced due to the electrical power needing to be shut-off until repaired.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. No fire damage cost estimates have yet been determined.
