At approximately 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, a Nevada Highway Patrol trooper stopped a 2003 Honda sport utility vehicle for speeding eastbound on Interstate 80 near mile marker 301. During the traffic stop, the trooper observed indicators of criminal activity and called the Elko County Sheriff’s Department’s K-9 drug dog for assistance.

The K-9 alerted to the vehicle, and two pelican cases (approximately 25 pounds each) of suspected marijuana were found. The driver, Ryan Tucker, 24, from Charlotte, N.C., was arrested and charged with possession of controlled substance — marijuana, transporting marijuana, marijuana for sales and speeding.

His bail was set at $23,389.
