A short police chase near Baldini's Sports Casino on Rock Boulevard Sunday ended with the arrest of an unregistered sex offender and the discovery of an unarmed explosive device in the man’s van.

Joseph Aliano was arrested Sunday on charges of aggravated stalking, sex offender failing to register and obstructing police.

Police were called the 1500 block of Glendale Avenue on reports of a stalker returning to harass a victim identified in a previous Sparks police case. Officers found Aliano’s van parked in the area and subsequently the found Aliano. However, when police approached, the man took off running.

Aliano was caught by police in the Balidini’s parking lot. The van that Aliano was driving was seized as evidence and during a search of the van, an unarmed explosive device was located in the vehicle.
