MEMPHIS, Tenn.- Reno broke a 1-1 tie in the 12th, but the Memphis Redbirds benefited from an Aces error in the home half of the inning to slip past Reno, 3-2, in the longest game in Aces franchise history Monday night at AutoZone Park.

The Aces tied the game at 1-1 with a run in the sixth, and it would stay that way for five full innings. In the top of the 12th, though, pitcher Travis Blackley singled and moved to second on a walk by Ruben Gotay. Alex Romero then came to the plate and chased home the go-ahead run with an RBI single off Fernando Salas.

In the bottom of the 12th, though, Memphis loaded the bases on Reno closer Bobby Korecky. With one out in the inning, Jon Jay grounded to Abraham Nunez at short. Nunez tossed to Gotay at second, but the Aces second baseman lost the ball trying to turn the double play. Two runs scored on the play and ended a 4-hour 17-minute marathon.

Aces starter Hector Amrbiz tossed five solid frames, allowing just a run on six hits. Ambriz walked four and struck out four, not figuring into the decision. Out of the bullpen, Abe Woody and Jon Coutlangus combined to throw a scoreless sixth inning, before Billy Spottiswood worked two scoreless. Blackley dealt three shutout innings, in addition to scoring the game-winning run. Korecky (1-1) was the hard-luck loser, surrendering the unearned game-winner in the 12th.

Redbirds starter Adam Ottavino was excellent, surrendering no runs and just two hits over his five innings of work. Ottavino struggled with his command, walking six, but did punch out four. Salas (2-1), Memphis' sixth pitcher of the evening, earned the victory after an inning of work.

The series comes to a close this morning. RHP Cesar Valdez (1-3, 6.33 ERA) gets the nod for Reno. Memphis will counter with RHP Blake Hawksworth (3-3, 3.80 ERA). First pitch from AutoZone Park is set for 11:05 a.m. PT. The action can be heard live on Fox Sports Radio 1450 AM.
