This event is an annual day for kids and features a free barbecue lunch, free T-shirts, games, arts and crafts, face painting, informational vendor booths for both children and parents, and much more.
The BGCTM Day for Kids is part of a a nationwide celebration that includes all Boys and Girls clubs across the nation.
“The purpose is to focus on kids and families and provide them with information about the quality of life,” said David Taylor, marketing director of the event.
Bringing parents and their kids together is what this event is all about and the vendors give families the resources needed to live a healthy lifestyle.
There are 30 vendors coming out this weekend to show their support for The Boys and Girls Club of the Truckee Meadows. Participating vendors include Renown Children’s Hospital, Amerigroup, Washoe County District Attorney, Immunize Nevada, Small Smiles, KNPB, Nevada Virtual Academy, Soil-Tech, Office of Suicide Prevention, Washoe County Health District, Washoe County Social Services, Sparks Kiwanis, Discovery Museum, First Tee of Northern Nevada, Washoe County School District Parent University, Washoe County Child ID Program and many more.
“We ask the vendors to do activities that provide service to the community,” Taylor said.
Vendors will show families ways to keep the whole family healthy with things they can do at home to improve a healthy lifestyle and help their children to live the best life that they can.
The Day for Kids is free to the whole community, and is a fun way to interact with the family. A big theme of the event is no matter their age, anyone can learn a little bit more on how to live a healthier lifestyle.
“I grew up going to the Boys and Girls Club, and now my little brother is in it. My family and I attend every year that we can,” said Rachel Daley, a former member of the well-known club.
A similar event was also held in Fernley last weekend at the In-Town Park.
