Reed scored the first three goals of the non-conference clash against the Div. I-A Spartans.
Twelve minutes after the opening kick, Reed was on the scoreboard with a 1-0 lead after Brian Segura scored, thanks to an assist from Adrian Lopez. Lopez scored himself in the 18th minute, extending Reed's edge to 2-0. Anthony Chinchilla-Martinez gave away the assist on the Lopez score.
At the 24-minute mark, Reed forged ahead 3-0. Roberto Jacuinbe handled the scoring honors for the Raiders after another Lopez assist.
The score remained 3-0 into the intermission. However, the match got a little more interesting from there. Spring Creek scored on a Jason Woodland goal in the 58th minute.
Reed shot itself in the foot with an own goal in the 65th minute. That allowed the visiting Spartans to pull within one, 3-2.
Any Spring Creek comeback hopes were dashed soon after Jacuinbe tallied another goal, on the third Lopez assist of the night, as Reed increased its advantage to the final 4-2 margin. That final goal came in the 68th minute.
"Spring Creek plays super aggressive," Reed coach Joel Martinez said. "They have good size and and the bodies to do so. They just kept on fighting and never gave up."
Next up for Reed (2-0, 1-0), is a High Desert League match at Reno Wednesday. First kick is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
