RENO — Wolves and coyotes howling and big cats growling in the night: It’s the Ark at Dark! Animal Ark is open for this night safari from 7:30 to 9:45 p.m. on Aug. 17.

After dark is an active time for the Animal Ark’s predators. Enjoy a flashlight-led tour under the stars during the comfortable cool evening temperatures. Prior to the tour, learn about Nevada’s owls. A biologist from the Nevada Department of Wildlife will bring live birds to the event.

Bring your family picnic and enjoy our tables and playground. This is your only opportunity to join us for a night “safari” around the Animal Ark. In docent-led group tours, you’ll learn about the behaviors, diet and habits of resident wild creatures.

Reserve your spot by Aug. 12, as there is limited admission and this event usually fills quickly. No golf carts are available at this event. This event is suitable for children 7 and older. Admission costs $15 for adults, $13.50 for seniors and $12 for children.

From Reno, take Highway 395 North, right onto Red Rock Road, drive 11.5 miles, then right onto Deerlodge Road to the Animal Ark driveway at 1265 Deerlodge. For more information, call 775-970-3431 or visit www.AnimalArk.org.
