Connor Culp, Chase Martin, Scott Cameron and Jesse Coats all singled and scored to highlight the first-inning rally. Brock O'Connell and Trevor French ripped doubles and scored to key the third-inning outburst while Calvin Bailey also singled and scored in the big inning.
Spanish Springs beat up Sun Valley pitching, rapping out 13 hits in just the four innings. Culp and Coats both had a pair of hits in the offensive onslaught.
Tristan Dahir picked up the pitching victory after working the first two innings on the hill. He struck out all six Sun Valley hitters he faced. Spanish Springs recorded eight of its 12 defensive outs via the whiff as Sun Valley hitters were outmatched from the start. Sun Valley only even got one runner to third base in the lopsided loss.
Spanish Springs continues pool play Friday at 7 p.m. against tournament host Fallon.
*In the 8u division, the Spanish Springs all-stars dumped Fallon 23-3 in four innings. Fallon did get three runs in the top of the first but it was never close from there. Spanish Springs answered with four runs in the bottom of the inning and was never threatened the rest of the way.
Spanish Springs' youngest all-stars added nine runs in the second inning and blew up for 10 in the third on their way to the easy win. Fallon did not score again after the early first-inning offense.
The local squad will be in action again Friday when it meets Silver State from Reno's North Valleys area, at Fallon's Churchill Regional Park. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
