SPARKS — The 94th annual Reno Rodeo kicks off today at the Reno Livestock Events Center where thousands of bull riders, horse barrel racers and rodeo fanatics will flock for the next nine days.

Today’s events kick off with the Cattle Drive rolling into town at noon from Virginia City just in time for an all-night carnival experience from Davis Shows Northwest beginning at 4 p.m. and ending at midnight. Mutton Bustin and Xtreme Bull Riding are featured in the nightcap beginning at 7 p.m. in the rodeo grounds leading into a festive weekend.

Friday’s events begin at 7 a.m. with the Championship Drill Team Competition which then leads into the night round of competitions, including bareback, bull riding, mutton bustin, saddle bronc, steer wrestling, team roping, tie-down roping and women’s barrel racing. These events continue throughout the weekend and into next week until champions are crowned.

Miss Reno Rodeo Tara Bowlby will be in attendance throughout the event as she is on summer break from earning her Community Health Science degree from the University of Nevada, Reno. Bowlby said she hopes to continue serving as an advocate for the community outreach of the Reno Rodeo Foundation.

This year’s Reno Rodeo will also feature themed rodeo nights including Patriot Night, Nevada Wolf Pack Night, Tough Enough to Wear Pink Breast Cancer Awareness Night and several more.

Event results, times and information and ticket sales can be found at The Reno Rodeo is also available on Facebook and Twitter.
