The Sparks Police Department, using a grant provided by Join Together Northern Nevada (JTNN), had extra officers available to deal with the historical increase in underage drinking during the graduation and end of school season. SPD was encouraged to report that it did not locate any major parties where alcohol was being consumed by the underage. SPD officers did locate a small group in the 1200 block of Greenbrae that had been drinking and were underage. Those subjects were referred and released to their parents.

SPD also had extra patrols available during the Memorial Day weekend. Officers located one juvenile party where it took enforcement action during that weekend.

The Sparks Police Department was appreciative of JTNN for its continued support of enforcement of underage drinking laws. An SPD press release said 'without this partnership, the Sparks Police Department would not be able to run these directed patrols during times when other calls for service take a higher priority.'
