When republicans pushed for a congressional hearing investigating the attack on our embassy in Libya, most democrats claimed it was just another political witch hunt and personal attack on then Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Clinton is the odds-on-favorite to sleep on the left side of the bed in the White House beginning in 2016, if she decides to run.

We all know the story. Hillary is accused of using her office to cover up President Obama’s handling of the attack, lack of security at the embassy and deceiving congress and the public by issuing false “talking points” to the press. After all, Obama was in the middle of a heated presidential campaign and with the election only a few months away, he needed all the help he could get. Now, the extreme right wants Obama impeached for the perceived cover-up and lack of adequate security at the embassy.

To say the Obama administration didn’t know about the danger our embassy was surrounded by in the middle of Benghazi is ludicrous. All it had to do was read a state department report, warning us of threats from extremists linked to al-Qa’ida in Benghazi and eastern Libya. Since April of 2011, there were at least five other attacks against foreign interests in Benghazi by unidentified assailants, including the June attack against the British Ambassador’s convoy. The Department report noted: we cannot rule out that these same individuals previously surveyed the U.S. facilities.

Clinton has already testified once before the committee. No doubt, she will be asked to return for further scrutiny. She’ll claim national security would be at risk if she did; Obama will remind everyone that “I am the president” and behind the scenes thank Hillary for sacrificing her possible bid for the presidency to get him elected. If that’s the case, republicans have a great chance to win the White house and Gov. Chris Christie has an even better chance of being our next president.

Christi recently had a gastric band surgery in his struggle against obesity. He claims “It’s not a career issue for me. It’s a long-term health issue for me.” He said “I turned 50 years old and it made me think.” It made him think of the gourmet food served at the White house. If he does run, he’ll probably win whether Hilary runs or not.

Christie has political clout and connections with the “familial.” Winning the New Jersey Gubernatorial race in 2009, Christie was the first New Jersey republican to win a statewide race in nearly 12 years. Prior to that, He was nominated to be the U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey. Never once during his FBI background check, required for Senate approval, was there an indication of his family connections with Genovese crime family leader Tino Fiumara. In an effort by the U.S. Attorney’s office to indict Fiumara for aiding the flight of a fugitive, Christie recused himself from the investigation and prosecution because of his family ties. A later report indicated Fiumara was Christie’s aunt’s late husband’s brother. When questioned by the New York Times in 2009 about his family relationship, Christie refused to comment saying it is a “private matter.” It won’t be private if he runs for president.
