Saturday (4/20) at approximately 2:36 pm, the Sparks Police Department responded to a call of shots being fired in the area of 18th and Wedekind Road. Upon arrival, officers met with witnesses, who stated that in the area of Gault and Wedekind they observed a black passenger car, possibly a BMW or a Mercedes and an unknown make or model white over red convertible drive up along side one another.

Witnesses said there appeared to be a short exchange between the occupants of the two vehicles and shots were fired. Witnesses indicated that a passenger in the black vehicle had fired the shots at the red vehicle. Witnesses could not describe the occupants of the red vehicle and could only describe the occupants of the black vehicle as three to four black males.

The black vehicle fled the scene north on Wedekind and west on McCarran Blvd. The red vehicle fled the scene west on Wedekind Road.

No one had arrived at any of the local hospitals at the time of this release and it is unknown if the red vehicle had been struck. Officers did locate several shell casings in the area.

The Sparks Police Department is requesting anyone with information about this incident to contact the department at 353-2225 or 353-2231. You may also call Secret Witness at 322-4900 and stay anonymous.
