Whether you are a serious runner looking for a professional timed event or a family looking for a fun, healthy outing, the Sparks Rotary Club's Rabbit Run could be the perfect event for you.

The first annual Sparks Rotary Rabbit Run takes place Sunday at Scheels, beginning at 7:30 a.m. The 10K run follows the same path as the Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot and the two-mile walk around the Sparks Marina is the same as well. The Rabbit Run will be a fun way to celebrate spring just as the Turkey Trot celebrates Thanksgiving. And just like the fall event, Sparks Rotary wants participants to get in the spirit of the season by wearing their favorite bunny ears, tail or whole costume. There will be prizes for the top three male and female runners, raffle prizes for several lucky bunnies and giveaways for all participants.

Sparks Rotary was established nearly 63 years ago and has given back to the community ever since. The club raises funds that benefit community projects such as the annual Kids Free Fishing Day, giving a dictionary to every third grader in Washoe County, leadership programs for both middle and high school students, high school speech and music contests and scholarships, as well as the Rotary Track Meet held at Reed High School every spring.
