In its first contest, Sparks scored in each inning of the mercy-rule shortened contest. After scoring one run in the first and three in the second , the Railroaders posted five runs in the third to take a decisive 9-1 lead.
Sparks then scored another run in the fourth and before tallying three more in the fifth to force the mercy-rule final of 13-3.
In the afternoon contest, Sparks was edged by Dayton 10-9 as the Dust Devils scored three in the bottom of the final inning to earn the win.
Sparks had 12 hits in the game, but four Railroader errors aided Dayton to the victory.
Sparks (4-2) host North Tahoe in a Division I-A doubleheader Saturday. The first contest is set for 11 a.m.
