RENO — Members of the Orchid Society of Northern Nevada (OSNN) will be exhibiting some of their rare plants at the Northern Nevada Orchid Show Friday, Saturday and Sunday and will be available to answer questions about orchids and the Orchid Society of Northern Nevada throughout the show. The show will be held in the Moana Lane Garden Center, located at 1100 W. Moana Lane in Reno. The show will take place from noon to 5 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday.

An intriguing selection of several varieties of unusual orchids, including funky masdevallias, dendrobiums, oncidiums, phaleonopsis, lady slippers and cattleyas – plus orchid supplies will be available for purchase. Ten percent of the orchid purchases made during the show will be donated by Moana Nursery to the OSNN.

At 10 a.m. Saturday, Moana Nursery hosts Orchids 101 at the Landscape & Design Center. Sean Abbott, PhD and past president of the Orchid Society of Northern Nevada, will show you how easy it is to have gorgeous blooming orchids. With a few simple tips, you will be able to grow orchids that bloom for months.You don’t want to miss this ever-popular seminar.

At 1 p.m. Saturday, attend the Art of Repotting Orchids at the Landscape & Design Center. Joanne Gerow, American Orchid Society (AOS) representative for the OSNN and AOS student judge, will demonstrate the proper way to repot orchids and share tips for successful transplanting.
