UNLV built a 34-27 halftime lead and held on. The Rebels never trailed in the second half, outscoring the visiting Pack 32-27 after the break in the first meeting between the two schools as conference foes in more than 20 years.
Khem Birch, Anthony Bennett and Bryce Dejean-Jones all scored in double figures for the Rebels, posting 14, 13 and 11 points respectively. Jerry Evans and Deonte Burton both scored 14 points to lead Nevada's scoring in a losing effort.
UNLV was 23-of-59 shooting while Nevada was 19-of-50. UNLV (17-4, 4-2) won the war on the boards 40-28.
Nevada fell to 11-9 overall and 2-4 in conference clashes. The Pack travels to New Mexico for a 5 p.m. game Saturday against the nationally ranked Lobos.
