“Derek is exceptionally talented and our region has been lucky to have him working on many of our major projects. While he will be missed, we wish him the best of luck in his new market and are pleased to give him this opportunity,” said Rod Cooper, Vice President/Regional Manager of Granite’s Nevada Operations.
Betts graduated from Oregon State University with a Bachelor of Science in construction engineering management and began his career with Granite in 1995. He quickly moved up within the company, and has held positions such as Carson Area & Desert Manager, Public Works Manager and Construction Manager.
As a part of the northern Nevada community, Betts has worked on many major projects that are landmarks for our area. He was the Construction Manager to oversee the Veterans Parkway/Geiger Grade Road Roundabout. He also worked on the US 395 Northbound, Moana to I-80 project, as well as the rehabilitation of Moana Lane from Neil Road to 395.
