Air Force shooters were stellar from the field. In the end, the Falcons made good on 24-of-46 (52 percent) of their total field goal attempts. Additionally, Air Force also buried 20-23 (87 percent) free throws in the conference clash.
Air Force senior forward Mike Fitzgerald was unstoppable. He connected on 4-of-5 3-point shots and finished 9-of-10 from the floor, pouring in a career-high 30 points. His senior teammate, Todd Fletcher was nearly as hot, burying 4-of-6 from long range and chipping in 18 points to the winning cause. Taylor Broekhuis added 10 for Air Force.
Nevada point guard Deonte Burton canned 4-7 3-point tries and had 21 points to lead the Wolf Pack but he didn't get nearly as much help. Nevada's second-leading scorer, Malik Story, wound up with only three points on the night and made good on just 1-7 shooting. Devonte Elliott did add 12 points for the visiting Wolf Pack.
The hot hand of Air Force (9-4, 1-0 MWC) was really the difference. Both teams pulled down 25 rebounds and the turnover margin was close with Nevada having one more giveaway, 15-14.
The Wolf Pack got off to a solid start, leading 33-30 at the break. That was erased as Air Force outscored its guests 48-32 in the second 20 minutes of action.
Nevada (9-6, 0-1) returns to the court for its MWC home debut Saturday. It will host Wyoming (13-1, 0-1) at 3 p.m.
