RENO — The Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows moves one step closer to the start of construction for the new William N. Pennington Facility at 11 a.m. Wednesday with the demolition of the old YMCA building on Foster Drive in Reno. The demolition party will include City of Reno officials, Foundation Partners and members of the Board of Directors to kick-off this phase of the project and help make way for the new 50,000-square-foot club facility scheduled to be completed by summer 2014.

The new Pennington Boys & Girls Club facility will serve the needs of both the immediate neighborhood and many nearby at-risk youth, and is expected to serve an additional 3,000 to 4,000 youth annually, an increase of 25 percent for the Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows. The club is now working on the public fundraising phase for the project and reaching out to corporations, foundations, families and individual donors from the community to support and become a part of the new facility.
