Who is funding the terrorists?

President Bush has vehemently declared that the United States is at war with terrorists. That is allegedly why we are in Iraq. Bush has also stated that we have to stop the flow of financial aid to terrorists no matter where it comes from especially if it comes from other countries. Then why does Bush support Saudi Arabia?

In the 1970s and 1980s the Saudis reassured the United States that they were working with the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) to stop the violence. At the same time the Saudis were financing Hamas. In 2002 the Saudis publicly stated that they would recognize the State of Israel if it withdrew from the occupied territories. At that same time the Saudis were subsidizing suicide bombers’ families in the west bank and Gaza.

Also in the 1970s President Carter sold 60 F-15 fighters to Saudi Arabia to get them to support the Camp David accords where Israel and Egypt signed a peace agreement. The Saudis refused and offered Sadat $3.5 billion to renounce the agreement. When Sadat refused the Saudis severed diplomatic relations with Egypt and cut off billions of dollars in much needed Egyptian aid.

In 2003 a Senate investigating committee found that, “Saudi Arabia is present at every stage of al-Qaeda financing, but primarily as the major source of funding.” Bush has clearly stated that al-Qaeda is attacking us in Iraq, so Saudi money is being used to kill Americans. So why hasn’t Bush done anything about Saudi Arabia’s funding of terrorism? The answer is quite simple, the Saudis also give money to Bush.

Saudi money bailed out Harken Energy when George W. Bush was on its board of directors. Bush ended up making a fortune. More than $1.4 billion of Saudi money in contracts and investments can be traced to the Bushes or their friends. Bush senior is a member of the Carlyle Group (supported by the Saudis) that influences business worldwide. Cheney is imbedded in the oil companies working in Saudi Arabia. You don’t cut off the hand that feeds you.

The Bush family remains close friends with Prince Bandar of Saudi Arabia whose wife actually funded two of the 9/11 hijackers. George W. Bush allowed 142 people, most of them Saudis, to fly out of the United States the day after 9/11. Over 20 of them were members of the Bin Laden family. Bush allowed them to leave without being questioned during one of the largest criminal investigations in American history. Whose side is Bush on?

We know who is funding terrorism but we don’t want to do anything about it because of our president’s and other top leaders’ financial interests. The oil companies are reaping in record profits so what do they care if a few thousand Americans die. To them it’s just the cost of doing business. We Americans pay the cost and they get the business.

We will never stop terrorism without stopping those who support them financially or otherwise. The current administration has shown that money is more important than American lives. As long as Bush and his buddies get their cut they won’t stop the terrorists from getting theirs.
