Police seek help on burglaries
During the early morning hours on Aug. 22 and Aug. 24, two separate residences were entered by force by an unknown male. Both entries occurred between 4 and 5 a.m. while the occupants were sleeping. The cases are still under investigation and not linked to the Brianna Denison case at this time.
The Reno Police Department would like to remind residents to take extra safety precautions to prevent break-ins. Personal safety begins with awareness; close and lock all doors and windows, use a deadbolt if possible, make sure that all exterior lighting is functioning, trim shrubbery around the residence, and always have a “buddy” while walking to and from locations.
Anyone who may have any information relative to these cases is encouraged to contact the Reno Police Department Robbery/ Homicide Unit at 334-2115 or Secret Witness at 322-4900.
RFD water entry team responds to call of victim in river
The Reno Fire Department’s Water Entry Team (WET) responded to a swift water rescue call in the Truckee River near the Arlington Avenue bridge Thursday afternoon, but the victim was already out of the water when firefighters arrived, according to Reno Fire Department Battalion Chief Joe Durousseau. The victim was evaluated by firefighters and transported to a local hospital.
The initial report indicated the possibility of two victims in the river. The rescued victim was unable to confirm or provide a description of other potential victims, whom he indicated were family members. Reno firefighters conducted searches in the water and along the banks of the river, while Reno Police officers checked the man’s Reno residence and confirmed that his relatives were safe.
