Sparks boys rout South Tahoe, will meet Truckee for regional crown

Sparks qualified for the state tournament by beating South Tahoe 5-0 in a regional final at Elko Friday. It also sets up a rematch with Truckee, the team that beat the Railroaders in the regional championship game last fall.

Ruben Pacheco scored the first two goals for the Maroon and Gold on assists by Hector Hernandez and Edwin Navarro respectively.

An own goal by the Vikings made it 3-0. Then Kevin Partida tallied the final two goals.

Kickoff for the title game is 10 a.m. today at Elko High. Truckee advanced to the final with a 1-0 win over Fallon Friday.
