Benghazi: Obama’s Watergate?

News on Friday of last week confirmed what many have been saying about the slaughter in Benghazi. According to reports the White House Situation Room was watching in real time the fierce attack on our Embassy in Benghazi, Libya.

This would seem to refute what Vice President Joe Biden told debate moderator Martha Raddatz several times when he said, “We were not informed.”

Who was present in the Situation Room on September 11th has not yet been revealed. So we don’t know “who was minding the store.”

Another thing we learned last Friday was that several requests were made of the CIA for assistance which was denied. Since former General Petraeus is now the head of the CIA, the ball seems to have been in his court. When he was in combat in the Mideast he was well respected as a military genius. It is almost inconceivable that he would not have sent reinforcements into what has proven to be a pitch battle at the Embassy. Interestingly enough Hillary Clinton who has said her State Department was responsible for the Benghazi incident once was highly critical of Petraeus when she was in the U.S. Senate. In fact she is most famous as coining the phrase “General Betrayus” and said that he strained credulity.

In the chain of command in the Obama administration it is unknown whether Clinton outranks Petraeus or vice versa. Nonetheless the overall commander should be the President.

Other interesting news that was released last week was that Charlie Woods, the father of slain Tyrone Woods, made telephone contact with several news outlets. During his conversation he said he felt that his son was “murdered.” He said that people in Washington should be more forthcoming in their story about what happened. He also noted that when the bodies of the four victims were returned to the U.S., Hillary Clinton pulled him aside and said, “Don’t worry, we are going to arrest the film maker of that video.” Woods also added that President Obama himself gave a very detached “we are sorry” to him.

The video story was one that numerous members of the administration were wedded to for several weeks. U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice was a pathetic pawn on the Sunday TV talk shows a few days after 9/11. Similarly White House Press Secretary Jay Carney over and over repeated to the press that the incident was a reaction to the video. A stance he later had to reverse by calling it an act of terror.

In addition to the call for help from the CIA there was also an alert sent to all concerned about the situation at the Embassy as it unfolded. The on-ground situation was confirmed by two drones that were sending back live pictures of the conflict. Whether or not this never-ending story will affect President Obama as Watergate affected Richard Nixon is yet to be seen.

Remember that no one died at Watergate.

We can all thank Harry for parroting what he hears on Fox News.

Shouldn't commentary include some original thought and reflection?
