With more than 1,500 firefighters from across the country and around the world competing, Sparks Firefighter Darin Berry led the Sparks team, finishing in 16th place overall with a time of 13 minutes and 41 seconds. Firefighter Jacob Palmer and Captain Jim Kindness finished 28th and 46th, respectively. Firefighter Denise Little finished fifth in the women’s division. The Sparks team finished seventh out of 139 teams.
The firefighters climbed 70 stories of the Columbia Center in Seattle, Washington in 60 pounds of full firefighting combat gear and self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA).
Joining the team this year were Battalion Chief Gene Rybak, Operator Ginny Sievert and firefighters Jarrod Stewart, Forrest Johnson, and Rich Armstrong.
