In front of a hostile crowd in eastern Nevada, Sparks tried to overcome recent personnel changes, but was saddled with a 25-18, 25-13, 17-25, 25-11 defeat at the hands of Elko.

Sparks senior Krystal Parker had an impressive game as she did it all for the Maroon and Gold. She led the team with 15 assists, nine blocks and seven kills.

Katelyn Vandever and Jessica Garcia each added five kills.

"Things were tough. We've lost players left and right on our varsity squad," Sparks volleyball coach Tarina Elliott said. "We've had to change our lineup quite a bit, and the girls are trying to adjust to that. They're adjusting, but it's against teams that really matter in regards to winning. It's a lot of pressure on them. They do step up and I see a lot of good things."

Sparks (0-3) is back in action today at Spring Creek.
