LAS VEGAS — The Clark County coroner has released the official cause of death for a teen swept away in a Henderson wash during severe flooding last week.
The coroner’s office announced Monday that 17-year-old William Mootz drowned and had a blunt force injury to his head.
Mootz was a high school student and the school year begins this week. KVVU-TV reports that school officials plan to have grief counselors available for students when classes start Monday.
Mootz disappeared in the Pittman Wash in Henderson on Wednesday. He had gone with friends to look at the high water raging through the channel.
His body was found in a marshy area Friday after a search by dozens of police and volunteers.
