RENO — Professional Education Empowerment Resource Systems (PEERS) in Collaboration with CASAT presents the “Domestic Violence: Empowerment Through Intervention” training session featuring presenter Lundy Bancroft. The training will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sept. 13 at the Peppermill Hotel located at 2707 S. Virginia St. in Reno.

This training uncovers the secret terror, distress and confusion that the behavior of men who batter brings to women and their children. Bancroft explains the profile and tactics of abusive men, with their major implications for children in the home. Then we look at the impact the abuser has on the mother as a parent and on family dynamics.

We move from there to examining why the most common approaches to intervention can actually make conditions worse rather than better for children and their mothers.

Regular registration costs $100. All proceeds from this training will be donated to the Crisis Call Center of Reno. For more information or to register, visit www.pxtx.casat.org.
