Prostitution sting results in arrests during ‘Innocence Lost’

RENO — The “Innocence Lost” initiative targeting prostitution conducted in the Reno area resulted 21 arrests and citations.

Detectives from the Regional Street Enforcement Team joined forces with members from the Sparks police Crime Suppression Team and Federal Bureau of Investigation Agents/Victim Advocates to conduct the Innocence Lost initiative.

The Regional Street Enforcement Team and the Federal Bureau of Investigation are partners in the Reno Innocence Lost Task Force, designed to recover juvenile victims of sexual exploitation and human trafficking and identify and arrest the individuals who are commercially sexually exploiting those juvenile victims.

The first operation occurred on Thursday and focused on the Fourth Street corridor in downtown Reno, as well as individuals who use internet websites to arrange prostitutions transactions. Undercover detectives utilized rooms in a downtown Sparks hotel for the internet portion of the operation. 

The second operation occurred on Saturday and focused on the Fourth Street corridor in downtown Reno.  

As a result of the two day operation, 20 females and one male, none of whom were juveniles, were arrested or issued citations.
