SPARKS — There are many ways to train a dog — one of which is through repetition and praise. This is the method local dog trainer Guy Yeaman utilizes to teach pet owners how to curb their pets bad habits and establish good conduct.

During six-week sessions offered through the Sparks Parks and Recreation Department, participants will learn how to implement commands such as sit, stand, stay, heel and more.

Classes will be held Mondays from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Parks and Recreation Center at 98 Richards Way in Sparks. The next session begins Monday and costs $98 (or $82 for residents of Sparks.) per session. Current shot records (rabies, parvo, distemper), training collar and fabric or leather leash are required and dogs must be four months and older.

Register online at www.sparksrec.com or call the Recreation Office at 353-2376.
