Early Saturday, Sparks police were notified of an attempted robbery that had occurred in the area of El Rancho Drive and Capurro Way. The victim told officers that around 3 a.m. she was walking to her car when she she approached by a man who knocked her to the ground and then she was punched and kicked numerous times. She was treated at Renown Regional Medical Center for minor injuries.
The victim described the suspect as a white male with a thin build who was wearing baggy, oversized clothing described as a white T-shirt and blue jean shorts. The suspect was last seen running eastbound on Capurro. The victim said there might have been another suspect present, but she could not provide a description.
Several hours earlier, another robbery occurred with a similar suspect description in the same general area. At about 9:30 p.m. Friday, a man walking near the 7-Eleven store at 1260 El Rancho Drive said he was approached by two men who threatened to shoot him if he did not hand over his money. The man tried to run but one of the robbers hit him in the face, breaking a tooth and cutting his lips. The attacker was described as a Hispanic man in his 20s, about 5-feet 8-inches to 5-feet 10-inches tall with a muscular build and a goatee, last seen wearing a grey shirt and blue pants. The second suspect matched the description of the white man with baggy clothes from the later robbery try.
Sparks police say they do not know if the two incidents are related.
