RENO — A man who was under the influence of bath salts trashed his motel room and flooded three other rooms on Friday.

Vathana Khiev, 32, was arrested and charged with destruction of property after police were called to the Vagabond Inn on South Virginia Street at about 7:30 p.m. on the report of a possible domestic disturbance or unknown trouble in room #207. Khiev was reportedly screaming and breaking glass inside. When officers arrived, they found Khiev had broken out the windows to the room he was staying in and had thrown property out of the window into the parking lot. All initial attempts to establish communication with Khiev failed so entry was made into the room through the broken windows to check his medical condition.

Based on the information provided by witnesses and the communication officers had with Khiev inside, it appeared that he was under the influence of narcotics, possibly “bath salts.” Khiev finally cooperated with officers inside and was immediately seen by REMSA personnel and transported to the hospital. Khiev caused a significant amount of damage to the room, according to police, as well as flooded three rooms below. He was arrested for destruction of property after the incident.

Anyone having information relating to this crime or the suspect should contact the Reno Police Department at 334-2115, or Secret Witness at 322-4900, report online at www.secretwitness.com or text the tip to 847411 (TIP 411) keyword “SW.”
