“We have a solid vision of what we want to build in the future,” said local board President Rose Marie Donohue. RMHC Northern Nevada operates six unique programs that help children and families battling illness in northern Nevada. Funds raised by the gala will be used to sustain and grow those programs. During the past 25 years, the Reno Ronald McDonald House has provided more than 49,100 night stays to more than 7,000 families. In the future, it is anticipated that the current 12-room house will need to be expanded and refurbished. The Ronald McDonald Care Mobile also will be expanded to provide additional medical and dental services to children in northern Nevada.
The Reno Ronald McDonald House is a home away from home for up to 12 families at a time. The children served suffer from a variety of medical conditions ranging from premature babies in need of extended hospital stays, to children suffering from injuries caused by accidents and more serious ailments such as cancer, diabetes and pneumonia.
