SPARKS — With the advent of Fourth of July, the Sparks Police Department would like to take this opportunity to remind the public that the possession, manufacture, storage, sale, handling or use of fireworks is strictly prohibited per Sparks Municipal code 14.05.3301.1.3.

Violators are subject to citation or arrest, and if convicted could face up to 6 months in jail or a fine of up to $1,000.

We all saw the destruction caused by the Caughlin and Washoe Drive fires in November and January. They were not fireworks related.

This summer, very dry conditions in northern Nevada make fireworks extremely dangerous.

Let’s work together to make this holiday and summer safe and fun, and avoid placing any of our homes and citizens in danger from the devastation of a fire.
