LAS VEGAS (AP) — Las Vegas police say a 24-year-old man sexually assaulted a teenage girl in a public park bathroom while she was walking to school.

Nashar Jackson faces charges of sexual assault. He told police that he and the girl had consensual sex Monday morning after they met on a public bus.

The 15-year-old student told police she was riding a public bus to school and got off near Spring Valley High School in Las Vegas when Jackson began following her.

Jackson allegedly pulled her into a men’s bathroom at Spring Valley Park and forcibly had sex with her.

The girl told police she didn’t protest or try to defend herself because she was afraid Jackson had a weapon.

The girl told police she had only recently moved to Las Vegas.
