SPARKS — Cody Vance, 23, of Sparks, was the driver in a fatal accident that occurred at 6:10 a.m. Saturday.
Sparks police received a call of an accident at Sparks Boulevard and Eagle Pass at about 6 a.m. Saturday. When they arrived, they found a blue 2003 Acura two-door had left Sparks boulevard into a field north of Eagle Pass.
The two occupants inside were still in the vehicle. The passenger was rescued by paramedics and transported to Renown Medical center for non-life-threatening injuries.
Vance was not wearing his seatbelt and had to be extricated fro the car. He was taken to Renown Medical Canter where he died as a result of his injuries.
Toxicology reports are pending. Police believe that the car was traveling at a high rate of speed before the accident.
Sparks Police ask anyone with information about the accident or who saw the vehicle traveling northbound on Sparks Boulevard to call Sgt. Jeanmarie Walsh at 353-2241 ext. 503. The reporting Sergeant, Sgt. Jeanmarie Walsh, was not available at press time.
