SPARKS — Great Basin Brewing Company held the second annual Chicken Plop Drop at their Sparks location June 14 and the promotion will continue at 5:30 p.m. every Thursday through the summer. The contest will involve a chicken pen with a numbered floor with 100 randomly placed numbers. Participants buy a numbered square for $1. After the entire board is sold, a chicken is put in the pen and the square that receives the plop (yes, chicken poop) wins.
The prize money will be split between the winner and the Food Bank of Northern Nevada, with each receiving $50. This donation will allow the food bank to deliver 200 meals to those who need them. Last year, the event raised over 6,400 meals for those who need them.
The Chicken Plop Drop will be located outside the Great Basin Brewing Company at 846 Victorian Avenue in Sparks.
Great Basin Brewing Company is a long-time friend of the Food Bank of Northern Nevada. The Food Bank of Northern Nevada provides food and services to more than 97,000 people each month with half of them being seniors and children. The need in communities across northern Nevada for emergency food services is at record high levels all throughout the year. Each dollar raised for the Food Bank of Northern Nevada helps to provide four meals to those who need them.
