Two businesses cited for selling alcohol to minors

SPARKS — Two businesses were cited for selling alcohol to a minor during a police sting operation Monday.

Employees at Sparky’s Bar and Restaurant, 1450 E. Prater Way, and Fuddruckers restaurant, 1565 E. Lincoln Way, were cited for selling alcohol to an underage decoy working with the Sparks Police Department. The decoy used his own ID to attempt the purchase at a number of businesses and was successful at two.

The following businesses did not sell to the underage customer: Olive Garden on E. Lincoln Way, Grimaldi’s at Outlets at Legends, the Shell Station on Sparks Boulevard, Anchors Bar and Grill on Harbor Cove, The Coconut Bowl on E. Lincoln Way, Quick Stop on Salmon Circle, Jackson’s Foodmart, Outback on E. Lincoln Way, Spiro’s on E. Prater Way, Sav-Mart on E. Prater Way, Around the Corner Liquor and Smoke on E. Prater Way, CVS on N. McCarran Boulevard and Pizza Plus on E. Prater Way.

The Sparks Police Department would like to thank the businesses that were in compliance and congratulate them for following proper procedures when selling alcohol.
