The Aces pushed across a run in the first and added two more in the third to jump out to a quick 3-0 lead. In the home half of the third, though, the Sacramento offense came alive. The River Cats scored five times in the frame — four via a grand slam off the bat of Chris Carter — that gave Sacramento all the offense it would need. In the ninth, Adam Eaton singled home a run to bring the Aces to within a run, but they would get no closer.
Enright (4-3) took the loss, allowing five runs on four hits over seven innings of work. His 10 strikeouts were the most in his career since a career-high 12-strikeout performance in 2008 for Advanced-A Visalia. After Enright’s exit, Jensen Lewis worked a spotless eighth inning — dropping his season ERA to 1.20.
Sacramento starter Brad Peacock (6-2) earned the win, scattering three runs — two earned — on 10 hits over six frames. Pedro Figueroa collected a hold, and Evan Scribner picked up the save.
At the plate for Reno, Eaton, Jake Elmore and Mike Jacobs registered two hits apiece. All 10 Aces to come to the plate on Sunday collected at least one hit.
The series comes to a close with a Memorial Day matinee at Raley Field this afternoon. Right-hander Trevor Bauer (1-0, 1.38 ERA) gets the nod for Reno, while LHP Fabio Castro (2-4, 6.39 ERA) counters for the River Cats. First pitch is set for 1:05 p.m. PT, and the action can be heard live on Fox Sports Radio 630 AM or online at RenoAces.com.
