The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit will be “Joining Forces” in Humboldt County with the Nevada Highway Patrol’s Northern Command, Winnemucca Police Department and the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office beginning today through Sunday.
The enforcement is part of an ongoing nationwide “Click It or Ticket” seat belt awareness and enforcement campaign, which runs from May 21 - June 3, 2012.
During the three-day event, state troopers, sheriffs’ deputies and police officers will remain highly visible due to the large number of participants expected during the Run-A-Mucca Motorcycle Rally. Additional law enforcement presence will help ensure all drivers and passengers are properly buckled up and obeying all other traffic and pedestrian laws.
“The goal is to provide support to the respective law enforcement agencies of Humboldt County,” said Deputy Armando Avina of the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office. “ (It) also, offers a little extra sense of security to participants and residents, making certain that people are being responsible while utilizing the roadways in or about the City of Winnemucca.”
“Joining Forces” is a multi-jurisdictional law enforcement program that promotes statewide enforcement in: DUI, seat belt, distracted driving, speed, and pedestrian safety. This “Joining Forces” enforcement campaign is made possible by grant funding received from the Nevada Department of Public Safety/Office of Traffic Safety.
