BERKELEY — With a trip to the super regionals on the line, the No. 1-ranked California softball team did what it’s been doing almost the entire season. It won.

The Golden Bears defeated Arkansas, 7-0, on Sunday night to capture the Berkeley Regional. Cal will host Pac-12 rival Washington at Levine-Fricke Field starting Saturday for the Berkeley Super Regional.

After former ace Reed High pitcher Chelsea Cohen helped Arkansas upset top-seeded Cal 3-2 Saturday, the Bears eliminated Boston Univ. 8-0 Saturday night to keep their season alive. Cal mercy-ruled the Razorbacks 10-2 in five innings in the first game of Sunday’s doubleheader, forcing the 'if' necessary Game 7.

Jolene Henderson pitched back-to-back wins, improving to 34-2 in the circle. Britt Vonk tallied her first homer of the year and 2010 Spanish Springs grad Ashley Decker was 2-for-4 with two RBI.
