RENO — The Cal-Neva Extreme Rock Crawling competition will start the 2012 crawling series with Round 1 at the Giant’s Throne, Exit 28 just outside Reno Saturday and Sunday. Presented by Yukon Gear & Axle, Cal-Neva Extreme is a four-round, natural-terrain competitive rock crawling series that delivers an action-packed weekend with more than 120 courses run each day, all open to the public.

Cal-Neva hosts several rock biting teams, coming from as far away as Canada and across the United States and features national unlimited class-top contenders. There are five different classes that make up the Cal-Neva Extreme lineup.  Vehicles ranging from a modified 4x4 trail rig to the most extreme competition rock crawlers to date compete in this crowd-pleasing venue.

In addition this season, Cal-Neva will host the G6 RC Challenge. These scale, radio-controlled vehicles resemble fully equipped trail rigs that will be put through a series of challenges on special courses designed for them.

Take Interstate 80 east from Reno to Exit 28, 410 Wildhorse Canyon Dr. in McCarran. Gates open at 9 a.m., competitions begin at 10.  Adult tickets will be on site for $15; two-day value passes cost $25.  Kids ages 8 to 15 cost $5 and children 7 and younger are free.
