RENO — Pedaling her way to work this week, County Manager, Katy Simon is hoping to encourage others to do the same today for a fantastic closing day of Bike to Work Week 2012. Simon, along with members of the Washoe County Green Team took advantage of the beautiful Northern Nevada weather this week to commute to work.
“I had a great ride into work this morning, and even found a new path to get to the County Administrative Building from my house,” Simon said this week. “I would love to see as many county employees and citizens take the Commuter Challenge and bike to work this Friday, not only to reduce pollution and car use, but to get some exercise and feel good.”
Bill Whitney, acting director of Community Development and the head of the Washoe County Green Team, added, “It was fun riding to work this morning with Katy. The weather couldn’t have been better and what a great way to start the day. Bike to Work week reminds me how impressed I am with my fellow employees who commute to work year round; they are ‘for real.’ ”
