RENO — The fifth annual Cops & Burgers event benefiting Special Olympics Nevada is taking place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 3 at the Grand Sierra Resort parking lot.

Law enforcement personnel from many northern Nevada agencies and officers from the California Highway Patrol will be volunteering their time cooking burgers and serving each with a bag of chips and a soda for $5. All of the proceeds go directly to support the athletes in the various programs throughout the year in our local community. There will also be a large display of current fleet and vintage police vehicles as well as other items of interest, including K-9, police motorcycles, equestrian and SWAT displays/demonstrations.

This year will again include a classic car show ‘n’ shine. Any vehicle is allowed to enter and the cost for each registration is $20, which includes a lunch ticket and one complimentary raffle ticket. Registration for the show ‘n’shine will start at 8 a.m. and the first 125 vehicles signed up will receive a commemorative dash plaque and goodie bag. There will be many awards handed out during the car show as well.
