SPARKS — Northern Nevada Medical Center recently earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval in knee replacement, hip replacement and spine surgery. These certifications recognize NNMC’s dedication to continuous compliance with The Joint Commission’s state-of-the-art standards.
NNMC’s Joint Center of Excellence and Spine Center of Excellence are the first programs in northern Nevada to receive these certifications. NNMC is the only hospital in the state to be certified in all three.
To achieve these certifications, the hospital underwent a rigorous three-day, on-site evaluation by The Joint Commission. NNMC earned certification by proving compliance with nationally developed standards, including medication management and infection prevention and control.
“In achieving Joint Commission certification, Northern Nevada Medical Center has demonstrated its commitment to the highest level of care for its knee replacement, hip replacement and spine surgery patients,” said Jean Range, a registered nurse and executive director of Disease-Specific Care Certification for The Joint Commission. “Certification is a voluntary process, and I commend Northern Nevada Medical Center for successfully undertaking this challenge to elevate its standard of care and instill confidence in the community it serves.”
