SPARKS — The Reed High School Cornerstones class is organizing the Strides 4 Love walk/run on May 20 from 9 to 10 a.m. to benefit the Touch a Life foundation. The event will feature a 5K track which can be completed as an individual or as a caterpillar team. In addition there will be face painting, a silent auction and various prizes for select participants.
To promote this event, the founder of the Touch a Life Foundation, Pam Cope, has agreed to fly in from Texas to speak to students attending Mendive Middle School and Reed High School. Cope has also authored the personal memoir “Jantsen’s Gift” and has offered to sign books at the event. Cope also has been a guest on “The Oprah Winfrey Show.”
All proceeds raised will be donated to a restricted fund of the Touch a Life Foundation. Founded by Pam and Randy Cope in 1999, the foundation helps liberate children from boat slavery in Africa, Cambodia and Vietnam and provides dedicated, holistic rehabilitation. All proceeds will aid in the construction of a new school focused on art therapy and healing.
Strides 4 Love is an event created by a group of innovative, compassionate, service-minded students enrolled in Reed High’s Cornerstones Class. This class focuses on empowering students to use their gifts and skills to make the world a better place. This project is the fruit of their desire to serve and give back to the global community.
