Artown brings distinguished artists from around the world, across the country and those who live in our community all for the sake of cultural diversity and artistic innovation. The cornerstone of the festival is its free events, more than 60 percent throughout July, including July 1 opening night with The Mickey Hart Band featuring Mickey Hart, lead percussionist with the Grateful Dead, and closing night July 31 with funk legend Maceo Parker.
Over the years, Artown has welcomed internationally and nationally renowned artists, including Marcel Marceau, the Harlem Gospel Choir, Diavolo Dance Theater, Mormon Tabernacle Choir, Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis, Pilobolus, Mikhail Baryshnikov, American Ballet Theater and Pink Martini.
Artown events take place at approximately 115 locations throughout Reno, Sparks and includes venues at South Lake Tahoe and Virginia City. The festival’s main location is Wingfield Park, located along the Truckee River in downtown Reno.
